LAHORE – The Punjab government has announced a one-time relaxation in the age limit and number of attempts for candidates appearing in the Provincial Management Service (PMS) examinations for 2026 and 2027.
The decision, notified by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), allows candidates additional flexibility in meeting the eligibility requirements for the PMS examination.
New PMS Age Limit
Under the latest notification, the maximum age limit for appearing in the PMS examination has been increased from 30 to 32 years.
The relaxation will apply to the PMS examinations scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
PMS Candidates to Get Four Attempts
The Punjab government has also increased the number of examination opportunities available to candidates.
Previously, candidates were allowed three attempts. Under the revised arrangement, they will now have four chances to appear in the PMS examination.
One-Time Relaxation for 2026 and 2027
The notification makes it clear that the increase in the age limit and examination attempts is a one-time relaxation.
The revised provisions will apply only to the PMS examinations for 2026 and 2027.
Punjab Government Issues Notification
The Services and General Administration Department issued the notification under the powers conferred by Section 23 of the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974.
According to the notification, the Governor of Punjab approved the relaxation despite provisions contained in the relevant rules and regulations.
Previous Notification Withdrawn
The latest notification also announces the withdrawal of an earlier notification issued on August 19, 2026, bearing notification number No. SOR-I(S&GAD)9-2/2022.
