ISLAMABAD – Pakistan is rolling out high-tech AI app designed to catch travelers using fake documents and illegal visas, before they even step on jet.
In bold crackdown on fake documents and illegal immigration, Federal Ministry of Interior announced series of unprecedented measures to make travel abroad completely foolproof. Starting January, Islamabad Airport will pilot an AI-based app that can detect passengers attempting to bypass immigration laws before they even step on the plane.
The announcement came during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain, where authorities decided to implement strict action against passengers using forged documents at airports nationwide.
The ministry revealed that the AI app will not only flag illegal travelers in real time but also confirm who is eligible to travel and who is not. “This system will revolutionize airport security,” said Mohsin Naqvi, adding that deported individuals will never again be granted a visa, ensuring Pakistan’s borders remain secure.
The government is also introducing reforms in immigration system and has requested final recommendations within seven days from relevant authorities. Protector issuance system will be made foolproof, while fake visas and agent mafias will face zero tolerance.
In landmark decision, uniform international driving licenses will now be issued by the National Police Bureau, and efforts will be made to improve the Green Passport’s international standing. Chaudhry Salik Hussain stressed that authentic documents are essential for labor visa holders, promising full cooperation with the Ministry of Interior to modernize the system.
AI-based app, developed under the leadership of former FIA Additional DG Ammar Jafri, who launched the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS), will be available to ordinary citizens via Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Users can report fraud, illegal travel attempts, or immigration issues directly to FIA, enabling instant problem-solving.
The AI app is a game-changer in human trafficking prevention. It uses facial recognition, behavioral analysis, and real-time security monitoring to detect suspicious activity that human staff may miss. The app also provides passenger travel history, ticket purchase details, and smuggling risk analysis, offering FIA immediate actionable intelligence.
This cutting-edge AI initiative promises to transform Pakistan’s airport security, protect citizens, and safeguard the nation’s reputation globally, marking new era of high-tech law enforcement at the country’s borders.
