A police constable on Monday died from severe injuries, and over 70 officers were injured during violent clashes with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protesters in Islamabad.
Constable Mubashir, 46, succumbed to head injuries after PTI protesters allegedly attacked police personnel near Hakla. The injured officer was rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Hassan Abdal, where he was later pronounced dead.
Mubashir was stationed with the Rawalpindi police and hailed from Muzaffargarh. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son. Seventy other police officers sustained injuries during the unrest, with wounds on their heads, arms, and legs. Authorities are working to identify the perpetrators using CCTV footage. “Those responsible will be brought to justice,” said a police spokesperson, reiterating law enforcement’s commitment to public safety.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the martyrdom of a policeman during the PTI protests.
Expressing condolences to the family members, the PM prayed for the martyred Constable Mubashir.
