Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Monem Zafar has blamed the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) 16-year governance in Sindh for the severe deterioration of Karachi’s infrastructure, stating that mismanagement and corruption have left the city’s residents struggling with basic services. Speaking about Karachi’s situation, Zafar accused the PPP of viewing Karachi as a means for profit rather than progress. He claimed that rampant corruption and inefficiency by the Sindh government had deprived Karachi’s citizens of essential infrastructure and services.
“The PPP has been ruling in Sindh for over 16 years, yet the regime has done nothing for Karachi and its people,” he said. Zafar criticized the approach to development, arguing that projects were often left incomplete, creating more hazards than benefits. He cited a recent incident in which a car fell into a ditch dug for the Redline project on University Road as an example of the administration’s negligence.
“The PPP government digs roads endlessly in the name of development, but projects remain unfinished,” he remarked. JI leader also highlighted discrepancies in reported expenditures, saying the PPP has allegedly allocated billions on paper for road repairs and maintenance, but the state of Karachi’s roads tells a different story. He described the PPP as “an anti-Karachi party,” emphasizing the need for a leadership that prioritizes the welfare of Karachi’s citizens.
