ISLAMABAD – Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally together for Constitutional Reforms on directions of party founder Imran Khan, who remained in jail for more than a year.
Khan directed his party leaders to maintain discussions with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), regarding 26th constitutional amendment. Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar said in a press conference after rare meeting with the incarcerated leader.
As per Gohar, Khan stressed significance of constitutional amendment, urging ongoing engagement with Fazl to ensure progress. He further identified key party members, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, National Assembly opposition leader Umar Ayub, Senate opposition leader Shibli Faraz, and Punjab Assembly opposition leader Ahmed Bachhar, to participate in these discussions.
Expressing his unwavering commitment to the rule of law and national dignity, Khan reportedly stated, “I will spend 100 years in jail if needed, but I won’t compromise on the Constitution and national sovereignty.” This statement highlights his determination to uphold constitutional values even amid his current challenges.
As Khan continues to navigate his legal battles, the PTI leadership aims to strengthen its position through collaborative efforts on this critical constitutional issue.
