TEHRAN – Iran’s Revolutionary Guards late Tuesday confirmed barrage of missile strikes targeting Israel, saying the attacks are a direct response to the recent killings of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.
Pasdaran, a multi-service primary branch of Iranian Armed Forces, said these actions were taken in response to martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah, and IRGC commander Nilforoshan, and further warned to strike “heart of the occupied territories.”
International media reported that over 400 missiles were launched from Iran, resulted in multiple explosions in Tel Aviv. Israeli military confirmed that the missiles originated from Iran and has urged citizens to remain vigilant and seek shelter as the situation develops. At least three distinct salvos have been observed targeting major cities, including Tel Aviv and occupied East Jerusalem, with air raid sirens sounding in Jordan.
In response to the escalating conflict, Jordan temporarily suspended air traffic, and Israeli military advised residents to stay in protected areas, noting that the sounds of explosions are due to either missile interceptions or impacts.
The Iranian mission to the United Nations warned Israel against any retaliatory actions, stating that the response had been appropriately executed. The situation remains tense as Israeli security officials convene in a bunker in West Jerusalem to assess the ongoing crisis. The region is on high alert as the threat of further escalation looms
