Dalian, located in northeastern China’s Liaoning Province, was one of the first coastal cities in the country to open to the world and remains a key hub for shipping, logistics, and regional finance. The city has strengthened its global connections in recent years.

The Port of Dalian is one of China’s busiest international ports on the Pacific Ocean, with shipping links to over 300 ports in more than 160 countries and regions worldwide. Its China-EU train services enhance connectivity and trade cooperation along the Belt and Road routes. In 2017, the port’s freight container capacity reached 35,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), a threefold increase from 2015. Since the Dalian Area of the China (Liaoning) Pilot Free Trade Zone launched in 2017, customs clearance efficiency has improved by 30%, and export speed has more than doubled.
