LAHORE  –  Pakistan-England cricket series is likely to be shifted to the UAE or Sri Lanka due to the unprepared condition of the local venues.

The first Test between Pakistan and England is scheduled from October 7 to 11 in Multan, the second from October 15 to 19 in Karachi, and the third from October 24 to 28 in Rawalpindi. Like Lahore and Karachi, Rawalpindi Stadium will also undergo construction work.

If the construction is halted for the series, preparing the stadiums before the Champions Trophy will become even more challenging.

A group of fans from England’s Barmy Army is also expected to visit Pakistan, and it won’t be possible to hold matches without a crowd.

Considering these challenges, the PCB has been forced to explore alternative options.

The UAE will be the first choice, but Dubai and Sharjah will be hosting ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup matches from October 3 to 20, which coincides with the dates of the Pakistan-England series.

In this scenario, only one venue in the UAE, Abu Dhabi, would be available.

The PCB officials are also considering holding the matches in Sri Lanka, and a decision is expected in the coming days after consultation with the England Cricket Board.
