Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather update; more rains expected

ISLAMABAD – More rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday evening/night and Saturday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), low pressure lies over north Arabian Sea and adjoining areas of southeast Sindh, and likely to persist during next 24-30 hours. Weak Monsoon currents are penetrating upper/central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave is also affecting upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places in southeast/lower Sindh, northeast/south Balochistan, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, Kashmir and upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Friday evening/night.

On Saturday, more rains and gusty winds are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, southeast Sindh and northeast/south Balochistan. Light rain/drizzle is also likely at isolated places in coastal areas of Sindh.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Saturday and 39-41°C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, rains and gusty winds occurred at isolated places in Pothohar region, Islamabad, upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, lower Sindh including Karachi and northeast/south Balochistan during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed in other parts of the country.

Sindh: Sakrand 12, Mirpurkhas 05, Karachi (Masroor Base 04, DHA Phase II 03, Orangi Town 02, Kemari, Korangi, Old Area, Faisal Base 01), Tando Jam 03, Hyderabad (City, Airport 01)

Balochistan: Sibbi 05, Lasbella 03

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. Maximum temperature in Sibbi and Turbat was recorded at 44°C, and Jacobabad at 43°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 46 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 41 per cent.
