LAHORE – Good news for passengers as Pakistan Railways on Tuesday cut train fares over 50 per cent across various classes.
The revised fares will apply to distance ranging from 1 Kilometers to 200 kilometer as per the notification, with immediate effect.
The economy class fares for certain trains have been slashed by up to 54% while air-conditioned class fares went down by 40%.
The minimum fare for economy class travel on the Lahore to Rawalpindi route lowered from Rs250 to Rs100.
The passengers boarding the Khyber Mail would now enjoy reduced economy class fares, down from Rs250 to Rs100.
The decision comes in the wake of recent reductions in diesel and petrol prices by the government.
On May 15, diesel prices were cut by Rs7.88, bringing the retail price down to Rs274.08. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) saw a decrease of Rs7.88, now priced at Rs274.8 per litre.
