Aslam approves fair price shops to relieve masses

Provincial Industries & Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal chaired a high-level meeting at Civil Secretariat in which provision of relief to the masses and setting up fair price shops across the province was decided.
During the first phase fruits and vegetable shops will be established where fruits and vegetables will be sold at controlled rates. The pilot project will be launched from Samanabad Town. According to programme selection of shops will be made according to rules and regulations in a transparent manner, he added. Owners of selected shops will be given monthly salaries.
The shopkeepers after buying commodities from the markets will sell fruits and vegetables according to fixed profit rates of the government, he stated. Mian Aslam Iqbal while addressing the participants said that it is our mission to bring comforts in the lives of masses belonging to poor segment of society.
We will also grant a mega package for the relief of masses during coming Ramzan-ul-Mubarak. An effective monitoring system will be formulated for ensuring implementation on the programme. All concerned departments should work in a coordinated and consolidated manner in order to ensure implementation on the programme, he directed. He further maintained that due to timely measures being adopted by the government prices of essential edibles have been lowered down.
Prices will further be stabilized in the coming days, he vowed. The project of setting up fair price shops will be expanded to the whole province in phases and digital price boards will be installed at these shops. Secretary Industries & Trade Zafar Iqbal, Secretary Agriculture and concerned officers from Urban Unit, Industries & Trade, Agriculture and Food also attended the meeting.
