Massive crackdown launched to combat power theft

In the light of the orders issued by the provincial government, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Mardan, Capt. Retired Abdul Rehman, strict crackdowns are ongoing against electricity thieves across the district.
Since August 28, 2023, cases have been registered against 566 people for electricity theft while cutting off 844 illegal connections during operations in urban and rural areas of all tehsils across the district.

According to the official data, a fine of 15 lakh 71 thousand rupees has been imposed on 224 electricity thieves for causing damage to the public treasury, while 32 lakh 29 thousand rupees have been collected for their dues.

Deputy Commissioner Mardan said that in the light of the orders issued by the provincial government, electricity theft and kunda culture should be eliminated from the entire district. In this regard, with the cooperation of administration officers, Wapda authority, police and other law enforcement agencies, operations are ongoing on a daily basis for immediate control of electricity theft.
