Adviser to the Prime Minister on Sports and Tourism Awn Chaudhry said on Wednesday that Jahangir Tareen’s new party would be called “Istehkam-e-Pakistan”.
Chaudhry, who is a close ally of Tareen, confirmed that the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior leader had finalised the name for his party.
It is expected that Tareen would unveil the name of his party in a press conference on Friday.
In a bid to take advantage of the PTI mass exodus, it was reported that Tareen is likely to announce his new party, mostly comprising the former ruling party’s defectors.
The development was first reported after a luncheon was hosted in honour of Tareen and his aides at the residence of former PTI leader Aleem Khan.
Earlier in the day, former Punjab MPA Murad Raas, who recently bid farewell to PTI over May 9 violence, announced to join the Jahangir Tareen group.
The former Punjab education minister made the decision after holding a meeting with senior politician Jahangir Tareen at the latter’s residence in Lahore.
Abdul Aleem Khan and Advisor to PM Awn Chaudhry were also present in the meeting.

Tehreek-e-Insaf from Bahawalpur have announced joining Jehangir Khan Tareen group.
During a meeting with Jehangir Khan Tareen, Sajjad Bukhari, Tahseen Gardezi and Jehanzeb Warn announced leaving the PTI and joining the JKT group.
Jehangir Khan Tareen welcomed the leaders into the fold of his group. Ex-MNA Mubeen Alam Anwar was also present on the occasion.
