IdeaGist, after announcing the investment of 10 million USD, has taken its first major step towards development of startup ecosystem in Pakistan. IdeaGist has launched the development of National Investment Showcase portal nisp.ideagist.comtoday. The purpose of the portal is to provide the entrepreneurs access to foreign and international investors through the exposure of innovations, skills, techniques and inventions.A two-day workshop on ‘National Workshop on Incubator Management’ at the National University of Modern Languages which was jointly organized by world’s largest digital incubator IdeaGist, Business Incubation Centre of NUML (BICON), Higher Education Commission.More than 130 representatives of various educational institutions from all over the country attended the event.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs and founder of the KamyabJawan Program, Usman Dar inaugurated the National Investment Portal Showcase initiative in a ceremony held at NUML Islamabad. In his remarks, Mr. Dar highlighted the significance offunding for innovation driven enterprises.He added that Pakistan needs 1.7 million jobs every year to cater to the youth. Through the KamyabJawanprogramme, the government will utilise public private partnerships to create such opportunities to empower the youth.
Hassan Syed, founder of IdeaGist, said that, influenced by the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, and encouragement by Mr. Usman Dar he had decided to come and investhis technology in Pakistan for the development of startup ecosystemand to provide personalized opportunities to the youth.
According to Hassan Syed, his aim is to increase the startup investment volume in Pakistani startups from few hundred million dollars to more than $ 1 billion by 2021.
