Elon Musk’s Starlink finally registered in Pakistan to roll out internet services

ISLAMABAD – Elon Musk’s famous satellite broadband provider Starlink has reportedly registered to operate and provide internet services in Pakistan.

Director of Global Licensing and Market Activation at SpaceX Ryan Goodnight met Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haq to exchange views on the registration of in South Asian nation.

Haq took to social media to share the update on Twitter, calling it another step toward the fastest and cheapest satellite internet services in Pakistan.

He pinned hope on the services offered by global tech company which could significantly reduce the operational costs of telecom operators and will enable users in far-flung areas to get access to the internet.

Sharing his views, Minister said the broadband services will be rolled out to every corner of the country at affordable tariffs.

During the meeting, Starlink official expressed gratitude to Haq and other officials to extend cooperation and further hailed the country’s progress in the IT sector.

It was reported that Starlink, through its official platform, asked potential subscribers to pay a refundable deposit as a pre-order for equipment/services however PTA asked officials to stop taking pre-order bookings.

Top tech head Elon Musk aims to deliver high-speed internet in the world, with a focus on elevating connectivity in remote areas.

As of now, Starlink delivered around 2,000 satellites which serve a customer base of more than 10,000 spread over a dozen countries.
