Sindh Labour and Human Resources Minister, Saeed Ghani, has vehemently condemned the baseless propaganda that former president Asif Ali Zardari obtained any “NRO” during the regime of Imran Khan.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Sindh Labour Minister said that such an allegation was completely contrary to the existing facts.

He said that the trial of the false and baseless cases lodged against Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, had been continuing in Rawalpindi till the present day.

He said that as per the law of the lad the trial of the case should be held in the same jurisdiction where the assumed offence had been allegedly committed.

He said the alleged corruption cases lodged under the National Accountability Ordinance against former President Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and the CM pertained to Sindh. Whereas the former Chief Justice of Pakistan out of his ill intentions had unlawfully ordered to conduct the trial of these cases in Rawalpindi, he said.

He maintained that a petition filed by Zardari to transfer the trial of these cases from Rawalpindi to Karachi had still been pending with the Supreme Court for the past two years.

The Sindh Labour Minister said that injustices being committed against Zardari and other PPP leaders in this regard had still been continuing as the issue was yet to be resolved.

“It is quite ridiculous to claim that trial of the cases pending against Zardari had been transferred to Karachi as an NRO by Imran Khan’s regime as a consequence of the PPP’s decision to part ways with the PDM,” said Ghani.

He recalled that the People’s Party was the founder of the PMD as the differences emerged in the then Opposition parties’ alliance on the issue of resigning from the assemblies while the same became more severe when Yousuf Raza Gilani became Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.

“Those doing baseless propaganda in this regard should recall that Imran Khan tried to get help from Asif Ali Zardari after tabling of the no-confidence motion against him but the same attempt was rebuffed by Zardari,” he said.
