DIGP reviews security arrangements

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Security and Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed visited National Bank Cricket Arena to re-view the security arrangements for the cricket test match being played between Pakistan and New Zealand.

He also met Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi and discussed the security mat-ters pertaining to the ongoing New Zealand cricket team’s tour, said a news release on Wednesday. According to the security plan, more than 3500 personnel were deployed for the security arrange-ments.

1500 personnel of the Security Division including 850 Special Security Unit (SSU) Com-mandos and lady commandos,1537 personnel of Traffic Police, 394 personnel of Special Branch and personnel of district police were performing security duties along with personnel from other law en-forcement agencies at National Bank Cricket Arena, Karachi Airport, routes, hotels and other different locations, while sharpshooters had also been de-ployed at sensitive points.  Chairman PCB Najam Sethi expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements.
