Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday levelled fresh allegations against former army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and claimed the retired general had ‘made a deal’ with Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah.

Talking to journalists in Lahore, he said that during the past year, he found out that Gen (retd) Bajwa ‘does not want accountability’.

The PTI chief further claimed that the former army chief probably thought that PTI’s popularity would see a decline “but that did not happen”, adding that if a “right army chief” was present, his government would have “cleaned” the country.

While predicting that elections will be held in March or April of the coming year, Imran said that they are making an alliance with PML-Q because they have supported PTI.

Talking about party funding, he alleged that PPP and PML-N have no receipt of funding, while the PTI has a database of 40,000 donors.

The PTI chief recently admitted that granting an extension to Gen (retd) Bajwa was a “mistake” and had also accused the ex-army chief of “betraying” him. Also, in a conversation with journalists yesterday, he revealed that he was not in contact with the establishment “for now”.
