Major leaders of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Islam, Shia Ulema Council, Shia Wafaq Al-Madaris and other Shi’ite organizations also presented their issues at the meeting.
Security arrangements were reviewed in connection with the recent tensions between Iran and the United States over anticipated protests on Sunday. Raja Bashart said the Punjab government wanted to ensure the protection of the lives and property of the protesters, so the protesters were requested to observe the scheduled SOPs as settled with the district administration for their protection.
The scholars said that Pakistan was our own country, its security and stability was our top priority so the demonstrations would be completely peaceful and we would cooperate fully with the administration. Raja Bashart directed law enforcement agencies to ensure the protection of protesters and private and public property. He said that it was our strong wish that unity and consensus should be created in the Muslim Ummah and strengthen the bilateral relations of Islamic countries.
