Volunteers get training for Muharram security

The district police department in Attock on Sunday organized a training workshop for volunteers, who will perform security duty alongside police at sensitive points especially Imambarghas, processions and Majalis across the district during Muharram.

According to Police spokesman, personnel of bomb disposal squad, special branch and security experts imparted training to the volunteers at district Police lines testing their tactical response to emergencies during Muharram processions, trained in a staged scenario that pitted them against a group of marauding attackers.

The volunteers nominated from various religious organization get civil defense training, awareness campaign how to identify terrorist elements around the processions like physically tackling a suicide bomber and keeping an eye on suspicious element.

The volunteers were also trained on body search and bombs identification techniques besides given training to maintain social distancing in Muharram processions.

It may be mentioned here that during the holy month of Muharramul Haram, over 145 processions will be taken out from 87 Imambargah by mourners in the district during Muharramul Haram. Further, around 754 congregations will be held which including 66 in Saddar circle, 70 in Hasanabdal, 173 in Fatehjang, 325 in Pindigheb and 120 in Jand.
