Arms, ammunition, IEDs recovered in N Waziristan

Terrorists’ attack on a police check post in Nowshera district on Thursday left a police officer martyred and two cops seriously injured.
Reports reaching here said an assistant sub-inspector of police was martyred and two other cops sustained injuries after unidentified men opened fire on them in Nowshera.
According to police, the cops were standing at a check-post within the limits of Jalozai police station, where unidentified men opened fire on them.
“An ASI posted at the police station succumbed to his injuries while two other cops received bullet wounds,” police authorities said adding that the body of the martyred cop and injured were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formality and treatment.
The police have also launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the suspects though the culprits responsible for the Thursdays assault remained at large.
Meanwhile, a large quantity of arms, ammunition and Improvised Explosive Devices were recovered during Intelligence Based Operation in North Waziristan, Inter Services Public Relations said on Thursday.
According to the military media wing, the security forces on information of terrorists’ hideout conducted an IBO in Ghulam Khan Khel area of North Waziristan district.
During search of the area, large quantity of weapons, ammunition and Improvised Explosive Devices were recovered from the terrorists’ hide, it said.
