The Centre on Friday night approved an order to deploy 100 companies of additional parliamentary forces in Jammu and Kashmir. The order—from the Ministry of Home Affairs directed to the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir—states that the additional deployment of forces will help in strengthening the Counter Insurgent grid as well as maintaining law and order situation in the Valley.
It also contains details of the troops that will be mobilised ahead of Independence Day on August 15. It states that 50 additional companies of Central Reserve Police Force, 30 companies from the SSB, and 10 companies each from the BSF and ITBP will be deployed.
With the fresh order, 10,000 troops will be sent to Jammu and Kashmir for providing additional security. The decision to send additional troops comes days after National Security Advisor Ajit Doval returned from Kashmir.—Agencies
