TDAP organizes ‘Potential of Arts, Crafts’ seminar

Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organized a seminar on “Potential of Arts, Crafts, Carpets and Rugs of Baluchistan” held at BUITEMS University, City Campus, Jinnah Town, Quetta.

The purpose of the seminar was to create awareness regarding the potential of value addition in the said sectors of the Province.

In his welcome address, Mr. Riaz Ahmed Sheikh, Director General, TDAP, Baluchistan reflected upon the initiatives taken by the TDAP, in general, to enhance the exports from the country and from the province, in particular.

He also briefed the audience regarding the launch of “Virtual Display Center”, an initiative of TDAP, and how it can help the local entrepreneurs in the international marketing of their products.

Miss. Fouzia Tareen, Principal WTTC, apprised the audience regarding the role of women in the said sector and emphasized on the importance, and necessity, of such initiatives and applauded the efforts of the TDAP in the same regard.

Mr. Shakoor Ahmed, provincial Chief, SMEDA, apprise the audience regarding the importance of the entrepreneurship culture in the province and how it can uplift the socio-economic condition of the province.

Mr. Iqbal, Director, Small Industries GoB, highlighted the efforts of the provincial department in order to uplift the said sector and appreciated the initiative taken by TDAP, Quetta and hoped that both the institutions will work in close collaboration, in order to uplift the said sector.

Mr. Zubair Ahmed, Assistant Director, TDAP Quetta, gave the presentation regarding the market potential of the handicrafts of the province. Mr. Zain-ul-Abideen, GSP officer, TDAP, Quetta gave a presentation on the market potential of the hand-made carpets and rugs of the province.

Mr. Noor Ali Achakzai, In-Charge, TDAP, Quetta, in the concluding remarks highlighted the efforts of the TDAP in general and its Quetta office in particular to enhance exports from the province.

He also apprised to all the stakeholders that TDAP is always available for any activity pertaining to exports promotion from the country and ensured its assistance in the same regard.  During the Q&A session, Mr. Riaz Ahmed Sheikh replied to the questions of the participants. The seminar was attended by 128 participants.
