A proactive member of Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) was gunned down by his relatives over some domestic issues here on Sunday.
According to a private TV channel, senior advocate Rai Nawaz Kharal, a PbBC member, was on the way home at Sheikhupura from Lahore when his opponents ambushed him.
According to police, the slain advocate was locked enmity with his brother-in-law and the latter had already killed his niece in the dispute.
Rai Nawaz Kharal was a practising lawyer and was elected on the Lahore Seat of the PbBC in the recent elections of the association. He belonged to Sheikhupura district.
Meanwhile, the office-bearers of the PbBC have condemned the murder of Mr Kharal and demanded the law enforcement agencies and the government to take notice of the murder. They also demanded immediate arrest the accused involved in Kharal’s killing.
Meanwhile, a dacoit was killed his accomplices during a shootout with police on Rojhan-Indus Highway in Rajanpur district.
Rajanpur DPO Muhammad Afzal said that Nazim Abbas, the slain dacoit, was a key member of Dullani gang, who was wanted by police in connection with several cases of murder, kidnapping and robberies.
DPO Afzal further said that the police van was badly damaged in firing by the dacoits.
He informed that the dacoits were chasing a bus on the Indus Highway for robbing the passengers.
“And when a team of Rojhan police station saw them doing this, the dacoits opened fire at the van, which resulted in the killing of one of their own accomplices,” he informed.
