A number of flights to and from the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore were on Sunday including an inbound and an outbound flight to the United Arab Emirate flights, due to operational reasons cited by the officials concerned.

According to details, scheduled flights Pakistan International Airline (PIA) to Dubai and another flight to Karachi were also cancelled which, according to the officials concerned, was due to lack of planes at disposal.

Another scheduled flight from Sharjah to Lahore was cancelled, while one Karachi-bound Lahore flight was also cancelled.

Separately from other private airlines, one to-and-fro flight between Lahore and UAE and one between Lahore and Qatar have been cancelled today as well.

One private flight to Karachi is among those cancelled, according to the sources, all of this is due to operational matters and lack of flights to cater to the schedule.

Another private flight to Ras al Khaimah and one back-and-forth flight to Karahi were also called off today.

Another Airbus A320 acquired by PIA arrives in Pakistan
It is pertinent to note that just yesterday, another Airbus A320 aircraft acquired by the national flag carrier, PIA, on dry lease landed at Islamabad International Airport.

The aircraft arrived in the capital from France’s Perpignan city via Egypt. The national flag carrier acquired two Airbus A320 aircraft on a six-year dry lease to upgrade its fleet. The first of the two arrived last month.

Meanwhile, Cellular service was restored in Lahore that was suspended following violent protests in the City by a banned outfit.

According to a notification, the mobile phone service will remain suspended in other cities of Punjab province.

The cities where mobile phone service will remain suspended include Kala Shah Kaku, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Wazeerabad and other cities.

The protest by the banned group also affected internet service in different areas of Lahore including Shahdara, Badami Bagh, Ferozwala and areas adjacent to the Ravi Bridge.

A spokesperson for Lahore Police in a statement said that two policemen were martyred and 44 were injured in the violent protest by the workers of the proscribed group.

However, a team comprising government ministers, led Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid, held talks with the leadership of the banned group including its imprisoned chief.
