‘Pemra monitors all licensed TV channels including the entertainment channels to check compliance of Pemra Ordinance Rules and Electronic Media Code of Conduct (CoC),’ Chairman Pemra Muhammad Saleem Baig said this while giving an interview to Monthly Atraaf for its special edition on TV Drama. He explained that Pemra does not watch any program or drama before it gets on-air, however, the monitoring system of the regulator is working 24/7.
Any violation gets reported instantly to Operation broadcast wing which takes appropriate action. Chairman Pemra said that all license holders must educate their production teams about the code of conduct and ensure during production of programs that it is being strictly followed. He said that Pemra received a number of complaints about Hum TV’s drama ‘Kun Fayakun’ which warranted instant action and Pemra directed the channel on 1st August 2019 to change the name and the soundtrack of the drama.
