Vehari Police nabbed 316 POs, 312 drug dealers

On the directives of Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan, a vigorous crackdown on anti-social elements has been going on in all districts of the province.

The police have also been intensified efforts to lasso notorious criminals, those indulged in illegal weapons and drugs dealing.

In this regard, the Vehari district Police under the leadership of District Police Officer Ameer Abdullah Khan Niazi has taken emergency measures during the past one month to arrest anti-social elements and has made significant successes against criminal elements.

Meanwhile, during the operation launched by Vehari Police for the arrest of wanted criminals involved in serious cases, the police teams performed high performance and arrested 316 notorious criminals involved in serious incidents including murder, robbery and looting.

Out of which 49 are of A category and 267 B category criminals. During the period, the Vehari police traced 300 cases of crime against property and recovered property worth more than Rs16 million.

Whereas, teh police arrested 66 members of 21 dangerous gangs along with looted goods worth Rs13 million were recovered from them.

In addition, 266 suspects were arrested during the operation against criminals and heavy weapons were recovered from their possession including 30 guns, 21 rifles, 198 pistols, 09 revolvers, 05 carbines and hundreds of bullets.

During the operation, the police caught 312 accused involved in drug dealing and 91kg of cannabis, 7,621 litres of liquor, besides destroying 20 activated kilns and distillery.

Similarly, 76 cases were registered under the National Action Plan, in which 24 cases were registered for violation of Loudspeaker Act and 50 cases for violation of Tenancy Act and 372 cases of overspeeding, 379 cases of power theft, 50 cases of fire work, 25 cases of bogus number plate, 08 cases of open sale of petrol, 14 cases of substandard cylinders in vehicles, 03 cases of display of arms, 06 cases of Sheesha smoking and 23 cases of Gambling Act were registered.

Vehari District Police Officer Ameer Abdullah Khan Niazi said that public convenience is being given priority during the operation against anti-social elements.

The sense of security among the people should be more pronounced and they should consider the police as their helper.

He added that crackdown on proclaimed offenders, robbers, drug dealers and criminal elements would continue on a daily basis to ensure safety of life and property of the citizens.
