After arrest of four suspects in Islamabad couple’s harassment case, police on Friday arrested the fifth suspect Bilal Marwat.
The development came a few hours after a district & sessions court of Islamabad handed three suspects on four days physical remand to police custody.
The Investigation Officer (IO) submitted before the judge that the statements of the affected boy and the girl were yet to be taken.
The fourth accused is already in police custody and on a remand. A day earlier the Islamabad police had arrested him and got four-day remand from the District & Session Court of Islamabad.
The court has directed the police to produce the accused on July 12. The suspects were arrested by the Islamabad police after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
In the video, which officials said was a few months old, six people are seen sexually harassing the couple.
The suspects held the couple at gunpoint, stripped them and then subjected them to physical torture.
They can also be seen abusing the couple verbally and physically forcing them to do vulgar acts.
One of the suspects had shared the video with a friend who made it viral on social media.
In another video the main accused Usman Mirza could be seen slapping the boy and threatening him of dire consequences for ‘doing sex.’
The incident had occurred in an apartment in Sector E-11/2. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan called Inspector General of Islamabad police Qazi Jamilur Rehman to PM Office and inquired him about the progress in the case.
He directed the police chief to personally monitor the case and see the matter was dealt professionally and no one could escape justice.
According to the PM Office, the premiere directed the police chief to use all resources and energies to bring all the accused to the dock and provide justice to the victim couple.
SSP Investigation Attaur Rehman also visited the boy and the girl who are married now and assured them that the culprits would not go unpunished. They are likely to record their statement in a day or two.
According to the police there was a possibility that the arrested suspects were part of a gang involved in organized crime.
Scores of similar videos were recovered from the mobile phones of the suspects and they were being examined to identify people abused by them.
Special Assistant to PM Dr Shahbaz Gill in a tweet on Thursday said Usman Mirza and his gang were involved in making objectionable videos of boys and girls and then blackmailed them.
