IGP thanks citizens for boosting morale of Islamabad police in the wake of G-11 failed robbery Social media heaps praise on injured policemen

Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Qazi Jameelur Rehman Monday expressed his gratitude to the people of Pakistan, particularly, the residents of Islamabad for eulogizing the police personnel who got injured in exchange of fire with robbers in Sector G-11 on Saturday, Jun 26.

In the incident the armed dacoits were arrested unhurt, while two policemen, of Islamabad police were badly injured as the dacoits opened fire on them.

Later, the social media went crazy with posts of appreciation for the two policemen and people called them heroes of the police force and role models for their colleagues.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed had also visited the injured policemen at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and announced cash awards for them.

While responding to the comments of appreciation and encouragement by the netizens for the Islamabad police in general and the injured policemen in particular, the IGP said it was quite morale boosting the way the representatives of the federal government, civil administration, members of civil society, business community and people from all schools of thought inquired after the health of the injured policemen and appreciated them for their valour to counter the outlaws was commendable.

Such acts of kindness demonstrated by the public not only boost the morale of ‘Jawans’ but give them a new spirit to perform their duties diligently, said IGP.

“Islamabad Police is vigilant to protect the lives and property of the citizens, and its personnel are always ready to sacrifice their lives in the line of duty,” he remarked.

The IGP paid tribute to the injured personnel and announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for their bravery.

One of the injured constables, Saqlain was admitted to the PIMS is stated to be in stable condition and while replying to the questions of the journalists said he belonged to a village that is known for having brave people.

Even our village name is Dilawar and people of this village prefer to join the police or army for their courage and chivalry.
