Leadership of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) demanded similar implementation of standardizations for entire country. President of KATI Sheikh Umer Rehan while Speaking to a delegation of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) headed by Director General Abdul Aleem Memon , urged that standardization of industry should be similar for all provinces and asked to revoke double marking fee on Ghee and edible oil industry.
A delegation of PSQCA called on KATI. On this occasion Chairman & CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Senior Vice President Muhammad Ikram Rajput, Vice President Syed Wajid Hussain, Head of KATI’s standing committee on Food Security & Health Omer Qasim, Syed Farrukh Mazhar, Senior Vice Chairman PVMA Sheikh Basit Ikram and others also spoke to the meeting.
Sheikh Umer Rehan said that PSQCA is a vital institution for the development and maintaining standards of Industry in the country. He said that after establishment of Provincial Food Authorities there is a confusion prevailed in the industry regarding localized standardizations and from the platform of KATI we demand for single system of standardization for the entire country. He cited that PM Khan always emphasizes on ease of doing business and lower cost of doing business. He said that keeping in this view double marking fee on Ghee and Edible oil industry should be immediately revoked.
While speaking to the meeting DG PSQCA said that the authority had raised the issue regarding multiple standardizations on provincial bases and he already aware of the complexity of this problem, “the matter had also been discussed in the Council of Common affairs and a positive decision would be announced soon” he assured.
