Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday said that the opposition parties are opposing open balloting because they are afraid of defeat in Senate polls. Addressing a public rally on occasion of inaugural ceremonies of different road schemes in Multan, the minister said those who raised slogan of sanctity of vote (Vote Ko Izzat Do) should also maintain the sanctity of votes in Senate elections.

Foreign Minister stated that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is working on one point, which is aimed at avoiding cases and seeking National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). Qureshi urged PDM to show political maturity and avoid doing politics of chaos and targeting national institutions. The approach of opposition parties is contradictory to Charter of Democracy, he claimed.

The minister said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government enjoys two-third majority. Director General of Inter-Services Public relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar had clarified that Pakistan Army should not be dragged into politics, he stated. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the soldiers of Pakistan Army are sacrificing their lives for the safety of motherland.
