Administrator Laiq Ahmad on Saturday paid a detailed visit to various areas of the city and reviewed the ongoing works related to roads, street lights, tree planting and sanitation.
Engineers and other officers also accompanied him. The Administrator on the occasion of his visit to MT Khan Road and Mai Kalachi directed to install lane marking and cat eyes on the road.He said that drive with cat eyes and lane marking.
It is easy to do and accidents can be avoided, especially at night, he said, adding that plants and seasonal flowers should be planted on the green belt between Mai Kalachi and street lights should be fixed, during a visit to the Neti Jetty Bridge.
However, the Administrator said that the expansion joints of the bridge would be replaced and at a cost of Rs. 22 crore, the roads would be paved, street lights would be fixed and protective sheets would be installed on both sides of the bridge. The existing expansion joints were installed in 1997 and have now completed their term.
Laiq Ahmed directed that they would be repaired immediately and made motorable so that the flow of traffic would not be disrupted. He said that these expansion joints would be replaced as soon as funds became available. He said that most of the heavy traffic passes on this bridge which carries goods from the port to different parts of the city and abroad.
Administrator Karachi also visited West Wharf, Dockyard Road, ICI Bridge and roads. Street lights in most parts of the city have been repaired and street lights in the rest of the city are being repaired on priority basis, he said.
