Pakistan has reported seven deaths in the last 24 hours by the novel Coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 309,015. The nationwide tally of fatalities jumped to 6,444 on Friday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center, 798 persons were tested positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours.
Till now 135,246 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 98,864 in Punjab, 37,525 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 14,838 in Balochistan, 16,324 in Islamabad, 3,608 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 2,610 in Azad Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Punjab has reported 178 coronavirus cases and one death during the last 24 hours. The provincial total has risen to 98,864 while the death toll is 2,229.
Sindh reported at least 242 new coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 135,488. According to Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, four more people succumbed to the deadly virus as the death toll reached 2,481.
He further said that 295 more patients recovered from the disease, taking the total to 129,396. At least 26 new coronavirus cases have been reported in educational institutions of Balochistan, the health department said on Friday.
With the latest detections, the number of total cases stood at 406.
The health department has conducted 4,237 tests so far to detect the deadly virus in the educational institutions across the province.
Earlier this week, the National Command and Operation Centre had granted permission to enter into the second phase of reopening schools for secondary classes across the country.
