The Technical & Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has decided to make English as medium of instruction for Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) with effect from academic session 2020-21.
A notification to the effect has been issued by Tevta GM Academics Abdul Wasay after approval of Chairperson Ali Salman Siddique. The decision has been taken by Tevta Chairperson Ali Salman Siddique to bring the DAE in in-line with international standards and cater for the job markets demands.
Ali Salman said that the decision will result in increased demand for DAE pass-outs as earlier the Urdu DAE wasn’t in much sought after in the field. It will also help the students secure admissions in higher classes and foreign scholarships. He said that in the beginning the medium of instruction for DAE was English which was changed to Urdu in late 80s. Now in view of lack of demand for Urdu DAE in market, decision has been taken to revert back to English as a medium of instruction in 43 Tevta run Technical Training Colleges offering DAE classes in the Province w-e-f academic session 2020-21 onwards.
