Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair performed the inauguration of the National Immunization Drive by administering anti-polio drops to children under five years of age.
A ceremony to this effect was held at the Governor House here on Monday.
During the nation-wide drive, 38 million children would be administered. This number in the province of Sindh would be 3.8 million.
In his remarks, Governor Sindh stressed the need of constant awareness drive against polio and special attention be paid for administering polio drops to children in the far flung areas.
He also exhorted parents to ensure that their children under five years of age are administered polio drops.
Zubair suggested that the assistance of the ulema, notables and prominent people from various walks of life should also be sought in this regard.
The Governor also lauded the efforts of Rotary Club for the elimination of polio.
The Chief of Rotary Club’s Polio Plus Committee Aziz Memon briefed about the contributions of his committee.
