Zeenat murder: ATC extends physical remand of her brother

Lahore—An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday extended physical remand of accused Anees, allegedly involved in burning to death his sister Zeenat Rafiq, for another three days.
Earlier, the Factory Area police produced Anees before ATC-IV Judge Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas in strict security.The police apprised the court that the interrogations could not be completed from the accused during the remand period.
The police asked the court to further extend the physical remand.
To which, the court extended physical remand of the accused for a three-day and directed police to produce the accused on expiry of remand period.
Zeenat Rafiq of Main Chungi Bazaar was burnt alive by her mother, brother and brother-in-law for marrying against the wishes of the family. Police registered a case against the three persons on the complaint of Zeenat’s husband Hassan Khan.
It is pertinent to mention here that Zeenat’s mother Parveen Bibi and her son-in-law Zafar was already in police custody.—APP
