Calling for merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , the former president and co-chairperson Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari said his party was deadly against keeping the Tribals as slave to the Governor KP and the President.
“We want FATA to merge in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and not be a slave to a governor and the president. My party wants the region to have its own high court that should be within the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction”. Zardari announced while addressing FATA convention here on Monday.
The PPP co-chairman, who said he has no hopes with the present “incompetent government” announced to jump into active parliamentary politics saying “during the last five years me and Bilawal have realized that we have to be in the parliament”.
Coming hard on his political opponents, the PPP Supremo claimed that the “show” of both Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan was now over. He said the Nawaz Sharif government has mercilessly failed to deliver and resorted to worst kind of corruption adding even the Chinese know that the projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are not corruption-free.
Zardari said this time both he and Bilawal Bhutto would work hard in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and would emerge triumphant in these provinces as well. “The PPP was not allowed to campaign during last general elections, but this time Bilawal, Asifa and myself would be campaigning during forthcoming general elections”. PPP co-chairman said asking the party workers and leaders to strengthen the party in their respective areas.
He said that after extension of political parties act to FATA by PPP government, everyone is now able to carry out political activities in tribal areas claiming that PPP government had increased funds for FATA from Rs3 billion to Rs19 billion. “Whatever we did is in front of everyone”. He said he will also strengthen his party in the region. He said that he wanted the son of poor labourer to become minister in the PPP government. Zardari said the PPP had five ministers from FATA. Asif Zardari also pledged to construct Hydel Dam in Swat and other projects in FATA saying he still remembered each and every promise Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had made with the people of tribal areas. “I have many projects in mind for FATA, we will make FATA tax-free”, he maintained.
Referring to CPEC project, Zardari said it was planned for FATA and KP and not for Islamabad. He reiterated the resolve to bring reforms in tribal areas after coming into power.
Zardari said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chairman was afraid of going to jail and comes out to address rallies directly from his drawing room and was not a popular leader.
