Zarb-e-Azb gets wide support

Islamabad—It was collective and joint responsibility of the society to wage pensive Zarb-e-Azb against disgruntled elements in order to change extremist mindset, ul-timately eliminating menace of terror-ism.
Political, religious and social circles on Sunday expressed these views while endorsing the idea floated by Minister for Information, Broadcasting and Na-tional Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid to launch a pensive Zarb-e-Azb for getting rid of menaces of extremism and terrorism permanently.
They said the Armed Forces did launch an operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists, and now all segments of society had the joint responsibility to create awareness at grassroots level so that people could differentiate them-selves between right and wrong.
Talking to APP, Secretary General Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia and Member Islamic Ideology Council of Pakistan Qari Hanif Jalandhari said “Pensive Zarb-e-Azb is essential to de-feat extremist mindset. “This is necessary in order to defeat the terrorists in their ideological capac-ity to mobilise support, recruit and then indoctrinate young malleable minds to put on suicide belts,”, he added.
“The way out of the current im-passe is to promote culture of tolerance and moderation. Counter-narratives are created to fight the war of ideas with the aim to win hearts and minds of the population,” he said.
Chief of All Pakistan Ulema Coun-cil Maulana Tahir Ashrafi said elimi-nating terrorism was need of the hour.
He urged Ulema, teachers, schol-ars, traders, engineers and doctors to play their role to change the mindset of the people thinking negativity. “The terrorism can be tackled by addressing its root cause,” he added.
President of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said ter-rorism could eliminated through changing some elements who are thinking neagtively. “Its only solution is to change the mindset of people.”
He said a comprehensive strategy was needed to change negative think-ing of some people opting for violence and illegal means to enforce their view points on others.
Sheikh Rashid was of the view that media was the most effective tool to educate people and create awareness among them for the promotion of a pensive Zarb-e-Azb to get rid of the menaces of extremism and terrorism.
Chairman of National Assembly Standing on Gilgit- Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs Malik Abrar Ahmed said a successful military operation Zarb-e-Azb was underway against ter-rorists, in which their (terrorists) infra-structure, factories and training centers are being destroyed.
He stressed for comprehensive planning to change the mindset of peo-ple at the lower level.
He said “Schools, colleges, univer-sities may be used for creating aware-ness about pensive Zarb-e-Azb.”
Maulana Saeed Ur Rehman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) said that terrorists had no religion and they were enemy of the country.
He stressed the need for launching an comprehensive pensive Zarb-e-Azb side by side the ongoing military op-eration against terrorists. “We need to promote Islamic culture of peace and harmony in the society in which people of all religions, faiths and races are equal citizen of the Islamic state.”
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Senator Mian Attique Sheikh said “The whole world cannot elimi-nate terrorism through bullet alone. The government and all the stake-holders will have to play their role to change the mindset.”
He said Holy Prophet Hazrat Mu-hammad (Peace Be Upon Him) did ordain for peaceful co-existence. “Sav-ing of one human-being is saving the whole humanity, as Islam teaches us co-existince with peace,” he added. He underlined the need for making collective efforts to eliminate terrorism and extremism. He stressed for widely launching of pensive Zarb-e-Azb by using various means to change the negative thinking of some people who deviated from right way.—APP
