Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Transport, Malik Shah Muhammad Khan Wazir here Tuesday said practical work on Rapid Bus Transport (RBT) system in Peshawar will start next month to provide quality service to residents of provincial metropolis.
“Papers/designs work on RBT has almost been completed and bids for it would be floated by the end of March 2017,” Shah Muhammad Wazir said in an exclusive interview with APP.
RBT is a part of Mass Transport System in Peshawar starting from Chamkani Motorway Intechange to Karkhano Market would be completed within a year with an estimated cost of about Rs39 billion by KP Government with an assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB), he said. The ADB would provide loan for this mega project at one percent markup payable by 2030, he explained.
The project would be completed in three phases i.e Chamkanai to Balahisar Fort, Balahisar to Aman Chowk (Gora Qabristan) and Aman Chowk to Karkhano Market, he said, adding five different corridors would be established under this project to make transport flow smooth on intercity roads besides overcoming the problem of traffic jam.—APP
