Women’s education a must to produce great nation: PU VC

PU announces BA/BSc results

Punjab University vice-chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed has said women’s education was a must because if we want to produce a great nation, we must produce educated mothers.
He was addressing the prize distribution ceremony for position holders of BA/BSc Part-II annual examination, 2018 at Al-Raazi Hall here on Monday.
Acting Controller of Examinations Abdul Rauf, Additional Controller Raja Shahid Javed, deans of various faculties, senior faculty members, students and their parents were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof Niaz Ahmed said that no nation could prosper without giving importance to education. He said that education must be our priority because we have no future without education. He said that PU administration aimed at producing quality graduates therefore we were making efforts to make our academic programs at par with international academic programs.
He said that we were improving our BA/BSc degree program as our graduates must have skills relevant to their fields. He congratulated position holders, their parents, relatives and their teachers on their landmark achievement. He announced to provide free education and scholarships to the position holders who want to study in Punjab University on campus. The VC announced Rs five hundred thousand rupees honorarium for the staff of Department of Examinations and one hundred thousand rupees for monitoring teams for showing outstanding performance.
Addressing the ceremony, Acting Controller of Examinations Rauf Nawaz said that PU Department of Examinations gives examination of around 545,000 candidates appearing in different examinations every year. He said that the BA/BSc examinations had been in conducted five division of Punjab, Gilgit, Skardu and Quetta. He said that the result of only 99 candidates was late out of 224,143 candidates.
In total 2,24,143 candidates appeared in BA/BSc Annual Examination 2018 out of which 99,366 candidates passed the exams while the overall pass percentage is 44.33.
The total candidates appeared in BA/BSc Annual Examination Part-I 2018 are 1,31,815 out of which 51,980 candidates passed the exams while the pass percentage is 39.43. The total candidates appeared in BA/BSc Annual Examination Part-II 2018 are 84,266 out of 43,767 candidates passed the exams while the pass percentage is 51.94.
Total candidate appeared in BA/BSc Annual Examination 2018 (Composite) are 5,608 out of 1,968 candidates passed the exams while the pass percentage is 35.09. Total candidate appeared in BA/BSc Annual Examination 2018 (Special Categories) are 2,454 out of 1,651 candidates passed the exams while the pass percentage is 67.28.
Total candidate appeared in BA/BSc Annual Examination 2018 (male) are 67,013 out of 20,534 candidates passed the exams while the pass percentage is 30.64. Total candidate appeared in BA/BSc Annual Examination 2018 (female) are 1,57,130 out of 78,832 candidates passed the exams while the pass percentage is 50.16.
According to result, BSc student Muhammad Umer Ali roll number 020520 got overall first position and obtained 712 marks. While BSc student Sidra Khan roll number 067239 got second position by securing 711 marks while BSc student Rukhsana Nazer roll number 083714 stood third by securing 699 marks.
In BA, Saima Jabeen roll number 010423 stood first by securing 666 marks. While Shazma Rehman roll number 039188 stood second by securing 646 marks and Zeenat Anmol roll number 064009 stood third and obtained 641 marks.
