Federal Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani on Thursday said solid measures were being made to establish Women University here to bring them into mainstream of national development.
Addressing at a Laptop and fee reimbursement ceremony at Science and Technology University here, the federal minister said that the government was pursuing a strategy that no one would remain uneducated and in this regard, all out efforts would be made to set up a university for women of the area to gear them up for playing due role in socio-economic development of the country.
He said the government was equally according priority to all sectors especially education which played pivotal role in socio-economic development of a nation and concerned organizations were being encouraged to continue their efforts for promoting literacy in the country, he added.
He also urged students to avoid politics and focus on their studies as they had to hold reins of the country in order to bring it at par with other developed countries of the world in terms of economic development.
He said that University of Science and Technology, Bannu would be made an exemplary institution and new disciplines would be opened to prepare the students in line with market’s requirements. He said Rs 102 million had been approved for the development of the university and efforts were being made to get some more funds as well.
He said that certain political elements were in the habit of making hollow claims as they could not deliver on their promises they made with people during electioneering campaign.
While, he did not believe in only words, he said, rather he had always worked for welfare of people and matched words with actions, adding laying network of so many development schemes in the area was testament to this effect.—APP
