karachi—A much wider spectrum of events, covering lectures, film festivals, musical programme will be the highlight of the German cultural festival, called the ‘German Weeks” to be held in Karachi this year from 3rd October to 13th December.
An announcement to this effect was made by the German consul general Rainer Schmiedchen and the Director of the Goethe Institute Stefan Winkler at a joint media briefing at the Karachi Press Club Thursday afternoon. The President of the KPC Fazil Jameeli was also present.
German weeks are organized every year to spread the colours of German culture and to encourage people-to-people contacts, said a press release circulated among journalists on the occasion.
Mr Schmiedschen and Mr Winkler emphasized that this year the programme will cover some new events to cater to the needs of almost of as many segments of the society as possible. They include academics, youth, movie lovers, Editors workshop, discussions on graphics, novels, conducted by the director of the MOSAIK, the comic with the biggest circulation in Germany, going on with a football tournament—the German Consulate Cup 2016.
