Whither ethical principles

Hashim Abro

Educationists and Human Resources’ experts have identified several principles such as integrity, objectivity, professional competence and due care, confidentiality, professional behaviour as being of crucial importance to any profession but one fails to find these ethical principles in practice anywhere in our public sector organizations. Those who practice and preach the said ethical principles and ethical code which means fairness and loyalty to the organization, subordinates and employees; fidelity to public needs; devotion to high ideals of personal and professional integrity; seeking knowledge of growing developments, like many others I strongly believe, would never be promoted to next higher grade during their career because ours is a morally bankrupt society where corruption counts, not ethical principles and code of ethics.
