What is TR SUR?

It is a bitter fact that the domestic consumers of LESCO continue to pay taxes and surcharges loaded bills for months together without any relief and coupled with persisting load shedding. Besides TV Fee, the domestic electricity consumers are paying Excise Duty, General Sales Tax, NJS (Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project ? ), FC SUR and TR SUR without knowing as to what these surcharges are after all. A domestic consumer with electricity consumption charges of Rs 9900 is paying as much as Rs 5800 as duties and surcharges which account for more than 50 per cent almost of the total electricity bill. TR SUR is the highest in four figures of Rs 2800.
It is also pertinent to mention here that the domestic consumers forced donations every month by this way are not accounted for everywhere and they do not know as to who has authorized these surcharges besides RV Fee, Excise Duty and GST. It is also pertinent to mention here that reading of the meter every month is done on any date between 10 to 15, the bills are distributed towards end of third week with last date for payment in the last week and the bills are for the ongoing and not last month and this gives LESCO an opportunity to indulge in figures jugglery when the federal government announces relief for this or that month and as such the consumers are the losers and LESCOP the gainer on the whole.
Caretaker Prime Minister Justice ® Nasirul Mulk is mandated to ensure holding of general election in a free, fair and transparent manner on July 25, 2018 and he is more committed to this important matter than anything else quite rightly. In these circumstances, one can only request worthy Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to take notice of this not so pleasant and welcome situation and provide some relief to LESCO domestic consumers.
