Chief Executive Officer World Bank Ms. Kristalina Georgieva met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Minister’s Office. On this occasion, Chief Executive Officer World Bank agreed to review cooperation with Punjab government for imparting technical and vocational training to the youth. A joint committee of World Bank and Punjab government will soon finalize recommendations for future strategy in this regard.
Talking to the Chief Minister, Kristalina Georgieva said ‘we are determined to consider cooperation with Punjab government for imparting technical and vocational training to the youth and take all out steps in this regard’. She said that Punjab government under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has displayed excellent performance in various sectors and his public welfare vision is very impressive.
She said that Shahbaz Sharif is working for empowering the youth of the province and she has impressed by his outstanding performance in education sector. She said it is great success of Shahbaz Sharif to take tariff of six cent with regard to 100-megawatt solar power project and congratulated him.
She said that World Bank will continue close cooperation with Punjab government in education, health, skill development, water and other sectors. World Bank has also expertise with regard to potable water, she added. She appreciated Shahbaz Sharif on saving billions of rupees of the nation in Orange Line Metro Train Project. She said that Pakistan has successfully changed challenges into opportunities during some recent years. Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that World Bank is a strong partner of Pakistan.
He said that cooperation of World Bank with Punjab province in different sectors is highly valued. He said that youth are our bright future and hope of the nation and Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for maximum empowerment of youth.
He said that cooperation of World Bank for making youth skilful augers well. He said that we have to jointly equip the youth with skill development training. Skill development programme is of paramount importance for saving the youth of trends of extremism, he added. He said that economy of the country will become strong with skilled youth.
The Chief Minister said that a comprehensive programme has been evolved in connection with malnutrition of children. Only healthy children constitute a healthy society, he added. He said that Pakistan has overcome the menace of extremism and terrorism to a large extent. He said that unflinching sacrifices of Pakistan in the war against terrorism are unprecedented. He said that supreme sacrifices of Pakistan in the war against terrorism reflect resolve of a brave nation.
