At least 14 people were killed and dozens injured when a passenger wagon collided with a bus in Mastung district on Saturday, officials said.
Levies officials said the driver of the van lost control due to over-speeding and collided with a bus coming from the opposite side.
The injured, which include women and children, were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment. Fourteen people have died in the incident and 30 have been injured, Waseem Baig, a spokesman for the hospital said.
The condition of six injured was said to be critical and doctors fear an increase in the number of dead. An emergency was imposed in the hospital following the incident.
The accident took place when a passenger coach, on Bolan Road in the Dasht area, collided with a van. The coach was carrying approximately 20 passengers who were on their way to a picnic.
According to local administration, the passenger bus was enroute to Sibbi from Quetta when it collided with the van.
The van’s driver died on the spot while there is no information about the whereabouts of the bus’ driver yet.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has passed on condolences to the families of the deceased and expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives.
In his message, he commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
