Valley turned into grim battleground

Srinagar—The Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, while condemning the unabated killing of civilians in Kashmir as shameful has said that the Indian armed forces have turned the entire Valley into a battlefield with target killings.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said the people across the territory including Srinagar were not being allowed to offer prayers even in the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar and main mosques of other localities.
He said the pro-India regime only cared about staying in power and it would go to any extent for hanging on to the chair. The Mirwaiz lauded the people for showing consistency and steadfastness. After a month, people continue to follow the unified pro-freedom leadership’s programmes, he said.
“This would have a permanent effect on the ongoing resistance movement. The day is not far when they would see the dawn of a new revolution and fulfillment of their right to self-determination,” he said.—RK
