UoP VC seeks help to overcome varsity turmoil

Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar (UoP), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan, honored Peshawar University Teacher Association (PUTA) Executive and stressed upon, that the teaching representatives may take lead in helping the university out of financial turmoil.
The Vice Chancellor shared his views and said that merit will be followed in every more and urged the PUTA to support him, said Secretary Media Ali Imran on Saturday.
He assured to hold pending selection boards since April 2015. The demand of new advertisement for long awaited promotion of young PhD and senior faculty members was agreed to be immediately addressed.
President PUTA Dr. Jamil Ahmad Chitrali said that PUTA members suffered due to the interim phase of the Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Abid, who could not manage a single selection board, instead stopped illegally the salaries of 30 TTS faculty members and denied renewal of contract lecturers and assistant professors.
The president PUTA demanded immediate implementation of the letter issued from Governor’s secretariat as Chancellor, wherein, the illegal perk and privileges are directed immediately to be withdrawn. —APP
