Karachi—Sindh government spent 650 billion on development schemes in the province but the people in mega city Karachi are starving of potable water. The door to door supply of potable water through a scheme was also a big scam through which the funds were embezzled. Even thousands of students presently appearing in annual exams are being deprived of water facility at the centre of exams. The students are drenching in sweat down to feet but the authorities are busy on photo sessions for press for self-projection.
Leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Khawaja Izhar Ul Hassan said this in a press conference he gave at his office at the SA Friday.
He warned of unrest and riots at the highest scale in the city on water starvation amid the passing summer with threats of extra high heat wave. The riots if broken would have serious repercussions and the Sindh government and Sindh cabinet would be solely responsible for the ugly days in the city.
The former local government minister had crossed all limits and did corruption to a level that was not known before.
He said that the corruption on water supply amounts to 200 billion and questioned as why the institutions are silent over this water corruption and what they have done to the joint interrogation team’s investigations.
