UET to revive ancient Gandhara University

Wah Cant—University of Engineering and Technology Taxila (UET) has finalized plan to revive the 2,500-year-old Buddhist University with features of the 21st century by establishment of architecture engineering department.
This was stated by UET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad while talking to newsmen here on Thursday. Dr Esther Park, the founder of Gandhara Art and Culture Association (GACA) was also present on this occasion.
Briefing about the project, Professor Niaz has said that Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved the PC-1 of the establishment of the Gandhara School at UET which and ground breaking ceremony is expected to be carried out in January 2017.
He said that under Rs 350 million project, a new building for department of architecture engineering would be established and admissions would be offered for BSc architecture engineering and students would be enrolled from fall 2017.—APP
